Search for suspect underway after traffic stop turns into foot chase, Pct. 2 says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A search is underway for a suspect who fled from authorities on Wednesday morning, according to Harris County Precinct 2.

SkyEye13 flew over a heavy law enforcement presence surrounding a southeast Houston apartment complex on Belfort at around 10:20 a.m., where a deputy could be seen being treated at the scene.

Officials said it all started with a traffic stop involving a wanted individual who allegedly fled from a Pct. 2 deputy.

Deputies said at one point, the suspect stopped and reversed into the deputy's vehicle before taking off on foot.

Pct. 2 said the deputy injured his knee during the ordeal and was taken to the hospital.

The passenger in the vehicle was detained, but Pct. 2 said a ground search for the fleeing suspect is still underway.
